Boerma Joins WMU
Scott Boerma (BM '86, Music Education) is joining WMU in his 'dream job.' The new Director of Bands will be responsible for all University bands including the Bronco Marching Band. He announced at post playoff game wrap up that was he resigning from his current position at the University of Michigan as an associate professor of conducting, associate director of bands, and director of the marching band.
The Director of Bands position at WMU opened after current Director Robert Spradling announced his retirement. He was director for 20 years and leaves behind a great legacy.
Boerma is known for his arrangements and compositions which have been performed by well-known symphonies, bands and orchestras in venues such as Carnegie Hall and beyond.
