WMed Names New Chair

The Western Michigan University School of Medicine took another step toward opening it's doors in late August with the recruitment of a key faculty member. Dale Vandré, PhD will join WMed in November 2012 as the founding chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Currently at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Vandré serves as the vice chair of the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology, the assistant dean for foundational science, and director of the integrated pathway program—the primary educational track for nearly 400 first- and second-year medical students involving the contributions of over 250 faculty members.
A biochemist and cell biologist, Vandré received his PhD from the University of Iowa. He has been an active researcher in the cellular and molecular biology of cancer with consistent research funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
