Miles of Wishes

Dave Willson (MPA '97, Public Administration) likes to make wishes come true, and he does that by riding in the 300-mile Wish-A-Mile (WAM) Bicycle Tour.

Last year I was able to raise over $2,000 to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  WAM is the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan's single largest fundraising event of the year, with about 900 riders raising over $2 million in 2012.  WAM covers 300 miles in three days, by bicycle, from Traverse City to Brooklyn, Michigan where we finish on the racetrack of Michigan International Speedway,"  Willson said.

And yes—Willson added—he will ride all 300 miles by himself, it is not a relay.

Willson will be riding with Team Taylor, established by a friend in memory of their daughter who was born with a congenital heart defect and died at age 14. This team has over 100 members and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish over the past several years.

The ride takes place between July 26-28. To learn more, or to find out how you can help, please follow the links below:
