Advance online registration is now closed. Walk-up registration will be available while event supplies last on a first come, first serve basis. If you registered online or plan to do so at the event, please remember to bring a print copy of your marriage certificate to be officially "counted." We look forward to shattering the world record with you. Let's make history!
For many, WMU was more than the place where they earned a degree, made lasting friendships, and acquired expertise---it was the place where they found the love of their life. To rekindle these fond memories and celebrate Bronco couples, we will hold a special event for you and your sweetheart to be a part of history.
Join us on the Grand Lawn of Heritage Hall during Homecoming 2016 as we attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most vow renewals in one place, at one time. Recommit to your sweetie in an outdoor symbolic ceremony and then watch the Broncos row the boat to a Homecoming victory!
Couple advance registration is required by Friday, September 30. We recommend participating couples revisit this page to check the status of our record-setting goal and to receive periodic updates about the event. An information packet will be mailed to each pre-registered couple one month prior to the event, which will include:
- An instruction booklet
- Instructions on what to do with a copy of your marriage certificate
- A commemorative pin set, exclusive to pre-registered couples
- A custom numbered race-style bib to pin to your clothing and wear to the event
- Suggested “date ideas” in the area
- Kalamazoo/Portage visitor information
The Official Record Attempt will occur on Heritage Hall’s Grand Lawn, located off Oakland Drive in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The event will include commemorative photo stations, interactive couple activities, Meagan McNeal
performing romantic hits on stage, wedding cake from Bert’s Bakery, and a sparkling Champagne toast in brown and gold flutes. An official Guinness World Record judge will be on-site to present a certificate to the crowd if the record is broken.
