Awards and Accolades
Heritage Hall has been recognized as a state-of-the-art example for the energy efficient transformation of historical buildings. The entire effort was completed to meet LEED-Platinum certification standards.
Other recognitions include:
The Governor's Energy Excellence Award. Heritage Hall was selected as Best Public Project for work that included, among other things, the installation of new ground source heat pumps; update of plumbing fixtures, faucets, and flush valves; and the addition of new HVAC and lighting systems. All in all, WMU expects changes made during the renovation to prevent the equivalent of 124.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. The award for Best Public Project, one of eight honors announced by the governor, recognizes energy-saving projects completed in the previous year by public sector entities, such as universities, school districts and municipalities.
The Association of University Interior Designers awarded Heritage Hall a third place award for renovation over $500,000.
The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter (ABC/WMC) 30th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards. The annual event recognized Christman Company’s work on Heritage Hall as one of West Michigan’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects.
The American Institute of Architects Southwest Michigan Chapter Honor Award. Heritage Hall and TowerPinkster, the architecture and design firm, were one of five projects awarded out of 19 submissions.
