The Most Important Game of His Life—Super Bowl XLV
Posted on Monday, December 26, 2011
When Greg Jennings was running stairs at Waldo Stadium — in his WMU Bronco sweats — do you think he ever dreamed big enough to believe one day he would be a starting wide receiver in a Super Bowl? Well, in a matter of hours, Greg Jennings will be wearing #85 in the green jersey, with white and gold striping, of the Green Bay Packers — on the largest stage in sport — Super Bowl XLV.
Experts are predicting that Super Bowl XLV will produce the largest TV audience in history — surpassing the 106 million who tuned into last year’s Super Bowl between the Colts and the Saints! And, these same experts are also predicting that Americans will spend more than $10 billion today (also a record) on Super Bowl food and merchandise — WHAT??!!
Yet, I’m quite sure sometime this afternoon Coach Mike McCarthy will tell Greg and his Packer teammates “this is just another game.”
More than 105,000 people (a Super Bowl record) are expected to pack into Jerry Jones’ $1.5 billion monument to the Dallas Cowboys — for Super Bowl XLV. Sure hope that Greg’s parents and nephew are among the crowd — they were stuck in a Grand Rapids hotel due to this week’s weather (see the link below).
Kick-off is scheduled for 6:28 PM EST — though the “pre-game” begins at NOON on FOX.
The WESTERN EXPRESS BLOG is predicting a Packer win — with two TD catches for our favorite Bronco! The “experts” at ESPN have made their predictions as well — see the link below. GO GREG!! — GO PACKERS!
