Contract Law Seminar Outline: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Cost: $190

Contract Law represents the nerve center of our system of laws and serves as the foundation of our entire society.  The smooth function of our daily living depends on these free exchanges/agreements in the marketplace at every level, and Contract Law makes these agreements “enforceable.”

Most people enter into contracts on a daily basis.  From utility services to cable TV to lawn mowing; parties enter into contracts daily and those contracts are enforceable by law.

 This 3-hour seminar will cover:

  • The students’ awareness of contracts around them
  • The essential elements needed to form a contract
  • The standard legal language used in contracts and why
  • Students will be exposed to essential legal terms relating to contracts

Intellectual Property Seminar Outline Time: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cost: $190

Intellectual property protection is critical to fostering innovation at every level in our society. Without protection of ideas, businesses and individuals would not invest resources to invent because they would not be able to reap the full benefits of their investments.  This would stifle advancement in technology.

Today’s smart phone is 1000s of times more powerful than the early desktop computers.  Each smartphone has technology which is covered by all elements of IP such as thousands of patents, trademarks, knowhow, and copyright.

If it were not for the protection offered under our IP laws, the technology advancement would not be at such an exponential pace.  Similarly, artists would not be fully compensated for their creations and cultural vitality would suffer as a result.

This 3-hour seminar on Intellectual Property will cover:

  • The value of Intellectual Property in an organization
  • The various types of IP protection offered under our legal system
  • The standard legal requirements to enjoy protection under our IP laws
  • The essential legal terms students should become aware of
