Office of Military and Veterans Affairs

Mission: “Serving those who have served.”

The Western Michigan University Office of Military and Veterans Affairs was established in the spring of 2009. Over the past few years, the office has grown exponentially and is proud to offer our many services to WMU students. Located in Ellsworth Hall, within the Center for Academic Success Programs, the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs assists in creating a smooth transition from service to student and currently serves over 580 student veterans.

WMU is a military- and veteran-friendly campus that offers:
  • a supportive campus community
  • a nationally accredited university for military personnel and veterans
  • acceptance of the GI bill and federal tuition assistance
  • counseling support for needs including psychological and disability services
  • a VetSuccess on Campus VA on-site coordinator
  • outstanding ROTC programs
  • in-state tuition
  • a military and veterans student lounge
Student veterans bring value to the university setting and WMU appreciates the dedication, time, energy, and service these students have given to our country. The University also values what a student veteran brings to the classroom climate. While student veterans face many challenges integrating back into the civilian setting, they also contribute many positive components to our campus community. Veterans take pride in their work, value integrity, serve the people, and are ambitious when it comes to achieving goals they have set for themselves. We invite you to support this growing campus community at Western Michigan University.
